My 60 Day Challenge - Getting More Traffic - Earning Hubpages Money
7260 Day Challenge
I am so excited to hear about the 60 day challenge. It's just what I need to get my butt in gear. I'm a little bit nervous but excited at the same time. I want to thank sunforged and the team in advance for all of the help and support.
I did a similar challenge over at another site a while back and learned a lot. What I liked most was that fact that there were other people just like me who wanted to get better results. So I felt like I had the support I needed. Plus I got to help others and share some of my knowledge. But I really love it over here at Hubpages so I am very excited to start this challenge.
I have been writing at Hubpages for over 2 years now and am generating a pretty decent amount of traffic and am earning with Amazon. However, I'm not making much money with Google Ad-sense so obviously that will be an area to focus on. I am excited about learning better ways write my hubs so that they generate more targeted traffic. I'm eager to learn more about Adsense and how to do better key word research.
My understanding with the 60 Day Challenge is that for the first 30 Days I will be writing at least 30 hubs under three to 5 different categories of my choosing. The second 30 days I will be focusing on promoting those hubs.
This Hub is my Hub-log. It is where I will be posting my goals and where I will be keeping a journal and tracking my results.
My Why
In July I was laid off from my Job and have not yet been able to fine employment. I want and need to bring in some extra income. I know online success doesn't happen over night. And I know it takes time and commitment. I understand that I will still need to get back to work and am currently looking for employment, however I believe that within 2 years I will bringing in enough from my internet writing that I will be able to work from home permanently.
Working From Home Will give me the ability to really own my life. I can make my own hours and I will get to be the boss.
My Goals For Earning Money Online
Short Term
- Increase my hub traffic by 75%. I am currently at approximately 230 daily views.
- Sell over 200 Amazon items in September and 250 in October. (I sold 90 in July and as of the 14th of August have sold 97 items).
- Improve Adsense earnings 50%. This is my biggest challenge. I know I will do this by learning more about keyword research and SEO.
Long Term
- By February 1st, 2011 I will be earning $500 a month with writing articles online.
- By September 1st, 2011 I will be earning $1000 a month.
- By September 1st, 2012 I will be earning $2500 + a month and will no longer have to work a Job.
My Stats Prior to 60 Day Challenge
My 60 Day Challenge daily Activity Journal - Week 1
- Day 1 (August 17th) Today I feel a little scattered. I just signed up for keyword academy. I am eager to dive into the training there, but it will need to wait until later tonight when I can focus more without children distractions. However I have two hubs started. I will be publishing them once I finish tweaking them. I'm looking forward to connecting with everyone and learning. I am so ready to take this to the next level.
- Day 2 (August 18th) I published 3 hubs for my Christmas niche. And I have 2 book review hubs started that I should finish up tomorrow. (27 more hubs to go...)
- Day 3 (August 19th)I spent a good part of the day submitting rss feeds. Spent another hour or so visiting hubs that were submitted by my team-mates. Got one hub published today. (26 to go) I worked on research for two others.
- Day 4 (August 20) Focused on research today.
- Day 5 (August 21) Completed 2 Hubs today. (24 to go).
- Day 6 (August 22) Got two more hubs completed. Tonight I will be spending time visiting and commenting on some of the most resent hubs of my team mates. I also learned that it is a good idea to post a 100 word summary of each hub. So I'll be adding them to the hubs I've completed.
- Day 7 (August 23) I got 1 more hub completed today. I spent lots of time working on research. Feeling a little bit like I have writers block. But that's okay. I know tomorrow morning some ideas will come to me. They always do.
Tuesday August 24 - My Hub Statistics
My 60 Day Challenge daily Activity Journal - Week 2
Day 8 (August 24) I was able to get one hub published today and I spent most of the day doing keyword research for 3 other hubs withing the childrens dress-up niche. I also was able to post a summary on this hub here for each hub.
Day 9 (August 25) I got my 3 pretend play hubs completed today.
Day 10 (August 26) I got one more hub done so I am now up to 14. I have been spending some time looking at Google Analytics and things are starting to make a little sense.
Day 11 (August 27) Today I took a break from the computer and had fun with my kids.
Day 12 (August 28) I had a great day. I noticed my Amazon sales are really picking up which is awesome and I was able to complete 4 hubs about Snow Boots which was very boring but I think they will get pretty good results.
Day 14 (August 30) I completed 2 more hubs today so that puts me at 20 hubs.
Day 18 (August 31) I was able to complete 3 more hubs today in the work from home niche.
Tuesday August 31 - My Hub Statistics
My 60 Day Challenge Daily Activity Journal - Week 3
- Day 15 (August 31) - I was just looking at my stats for the month so far and it looks like I have more then doubled my Google Adsense earnings. I'm excited to see what happens in September.
- Day 20 (August 5) Got 2 more hubs completed today. I am now up to 25.
- Day 21 (August 6) Got 1 more hub completed today.
My 60 Day Challenge Daily Activity Journal - Week 4
Day 22 (August 7th) I got another hub completed and spent some time updating some of my older hubs.
Day 23 (August 8th) I have to more hubs ready to publish today. I just need to do some tweaking. I also updated my Hubpages blog with my August Amazon Results. I increased my sales in August by 55% over July! Yippee! As of this moment I am at 26 hubs.
Day 26 (August 12) It looks like I have completed all 30 hubs!!!! Now the goal is to spend time over the next 4 days tweaking them and going back and rewriting all of the summaries. I'm eager to start the next phase.

Wendy, welcome to the challenge. I look forward to learning from a veteran. Ok. My first dumb question is: where do I find the graph that relates to my hub traffic? I have looked everywhere, but don't know where to get it, so I can do a comprehensive analysis of my traffic. Thanks for your help.
Good luck with the challenge.
Namaste.
Wait. Never mind. I just figured it out.
Peace.
Welcome, Wendy! Your Hub Log is great, and it looks like you'll be a real asset to the team! Looking forward to working with you and getting to know you better.
Wishing you and all of us the best of success!
And Deborah, the graph is on your profile page under stats.
I also pursued an online income in order to own my own life. Its a noble goal in my biased opinion.
welcome!
Welcome Wendy! Glad to have you on board! It should be a lot of fun learning all of this together. I wish you the best with all of your goals!
Wendy Yes I do like that phrase 'to own my own life.' That is my long term goal too as I like yourself was made redundant last year.
I am very impressed by your sales on Amazon Products, well done. I have only done one product hub as another profile name but no sales yet. I plan doing 2 lots of sales hubs on the challenge.
I am looking forward to meeting you along the way and all the other hubbers who have decided to take this 60d journey this time.
Wishing you the very best Wendy in your 60 day challenge. God Bless!
"owning a life", exactly the words that can make magic, Maita

Wendy - KW Academy is awesome! I actually started out there, which I feel was lucky. It is distracting though to be following the TKA method, and mixing in a HP 60dc2. LOTS of writing to be done. Welcome to the challenge!
Hello Wendy 3 hubs published already congrats. I look forward to reading them later. I am just catching up with everyone on the challenge first.
Hey Wendy congrats on posting three Hubs already!

Good luck Wendy, I missed out on your hub log at the start. Looks like we are in the same boat, my job was over a couple of days ago, so the start of my day is all the online job sites before I come here for my new work..
Not as established as you are, only been "playing" for 4 months..
Wendy!
I admire people like yourself who get organised and start writing quickly. I'm still sorting out feeds and all.
Hey Wendy, Congrats, I just saw this hub on the front page of HP. Way to go! Keep up the great work! . :).
Really helpful for the beginners...
Neat challenge! How's it coming today?

I am rather weak in getting sales from Amazon. I think I need to learn the tricks.
Wendy, you've sure been busy. I missed this challenge altogether (which may or may not be a good thing, LOL.)
Congratulations on a job well done!
P.S. You've had the wrong 'but' in gear...I'm pretty sure you meant 'butt.'
