The wintertime is the best time of year for family bonding. Since it is so cold outside during the winter months, we spend much more time inside. Often families spend time watching movies or playing video games but often many families enjoy hanging out together and playing board games. Our family tries to have a family game night at least 2 or 3 times a month. It just gives us a chance to spend time with each other and connect. Sometimes it is difficult with 3 teenagers (who often would much rather do other things) but with some coaxing we can usually encourage them to have a game night with us. And once the games begin it is always a really fun evening together.

We have several favorite games that we enjoy playing. But our most recent favorite game is a DVD game called One Versus 100. This is actually a game that "Santa" put under the tree last year. And it has really gotten a lot of use. The trivia game is just like the television game show. We enjoy playing DVD games because we can play as teams and we can often sit comfortably in the living room.
Another favorite, especially when there is a large group of people is electronic catch phrase. This is a fast paced word game for the entire family. It is perfect for all ages. Catch Phrase is also a good choice for a company Christmas party idea.
We also enjoy playing many of the classic family games like trivial pursuit and scrabble. And of course we enjoy playing card games like Rook. Any kind of game that is competitive yet fun is a good match for our family.
