Vampires in history had always been a creature to fear. For if they should suck your blood You would have to live forever. In history the scary vampire was a disgusting, ugly, and vulgar creature. The only way to kill them was by putting a stake through their heart. Not like today. Today's vampires are sexy and handsome and women love them!
Look at Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Buffy killed any vampire she came across but not the sexy, Angel. He would never hurt her and she would never slay him.
I think it is the romantic fantasy that women have to really be loved like never before. The vampire (who happens to be gorgeous) always falls for a mortal. He loves her so much that he will do anything to protect her. He is a scary creature capable of incredible strength and can crush anyone or turn them into a vampire. But with his true love, he is gentle. They say that the vampire can put a spell on the mortal and have her follow him in a trance and do anything they want. However the modern day vampire, like Edward Cullen of Twilight can actually be tantalized by the human. He will do anything to protect her. Oh, So romantic!
The TV show True Blood has the same story line but yet we love it and never get tired of the Vampire named "Bill". It looks like the sexy Vampire is in.
And being the Vampire fan that I am I simply can't wait for the new television series "Vampire Diaries" due to air in the fall.
So it looks like us women will be "suckers" for the sexy men of the night for a long, long time.
