Blockbuster Video Stores Closing - End of an Era

It looks like Our Local Blockbuster Store will be closing it's doors forever. And I can see why it has come to this. With blockbusters video rental being $4.99 it just got to be too costly for the average family. If you were to rent 3 dvd's it would be $15. Where as you could go to a Redbox for only $3.00. But of course you would need to have those movies back the next day. But Red-box doesn't have to pay the rent that Blockbuster does or pay salaries to human people.

And So it looks like Blockbuster is slowly closing its stores and laying off employees. Now my local Blockbuster Store is closing and I am really disappointed and sad about it.

I know, times are changing and now it is cheaper to go to a Redbox or rent dvd's online but there was just something to me about physically going to a video store and handling the dvd in my hand. I like being able to turn it over and read what it is about. I really enjoyed socializing with people in the store about the latest movies. Yes, I will miss it.

With Hollywood closing earlier this year and Blockbuster following a similar trend it looks like an end of an era to me. In the future we will be telling our Grand-kids about how we used to have to get in our cars a drive to a store to pick up a movie. Just like our parents had to go to the drive in to watch a movie.

So what is the future? Or More importantly Where will I get my movies?

• Box Movie Rentals - A Red or Blue Kiosk located at many gas stations and fast food restaurants where you can rent movies for a buck.
  
• Red Box Movie Rentals- A kiosk to rent movies for a buck.
• Netflix - This is an online movie rental. You can pay monthly and you get your movies in the mail.
• Blockbuster Online - This is the same as Netflix - But with Blockbuster there is an advantage that you are able to get Warner Brothers movies and all new releases right away. Where as with Netflix many new releases are not available for 30 days.
